Bri Stor Systems Apprentices Race for Help for Heroes

Continuing Bri-Stor Group's association with the Stone Festival Soapbox event, which stretches back to its inception, apprentices from both Bri-Stor Systems and sister company Alpha Manufacturing entered Soap Box Racers that they had spent the past 3 months designing, building and testing as part of their Engineering courses.

The Bri-Stor Systems team designed and built an RAF inspired by-plane Soapbox racer dedicated to 100 years of the RAF. Despite not finishing in the top 3 on the day, the team did come away with a trophy for achieving the fastest speed through the course speed trap.

In addition to designing and building their Soapbox racers, the lads also found the time to raise donations through sponsorship, raising an impressive £470 through friends, families and local businesses.

Bri Stor Apprentice Manager Will davies-Hill commented:

"We've been involved in the Stone SoapBox race for the past three years and it works really for us and our apprentices. It gives them their first taste of real life engineering as they design something from scratch, manufacture it to their design and then get to show it off, all as a tem. As an added bonus they get to raise funds for a great cause in Help for Heroes!"
