We have welcomed student Alice Humphrey for work experience this week

26 October 2017

Alice will work closely with our CAD engineers and Engineering Manager to build a model van which will house a docking station and speakers to allow her to play music from a handset. Initially, the van will need to be designed and measured using CAD software SolidWorks. Having never used SolidWorks before, it wasn’t long before Alice knew her way around the programme and was confident in its use.

All parts for the vehicle were manufactured and coated in our Sister Companies Alpha Manufacturing and Atlas Coating. Once collated, the shell of the van was built up using rivets to assemble the parts, then the electrics were installed to allow for Bluetooth technology to link to it and finally a battery was installed to allow for the headlights of the van to switch on and off.

Having worked with engineers for the majority of the build, the graphics department will now step in to help Alice design, print and apply graphics to the outer shell which will complete the project.
