National 3 Peak challenge complete and still standing

18 July 2017

Eight colleagues from The Bri-Stor Group successfully tackled the National Three Peaks, in aid of raising more money for chosen Charity Help For Heroes.

An early start began by meeting at 5am on Saturday morning at Bri-Stor before setting off for a 377 mile road journey to embark on the highest of the peaks. Bri-Stor’s team of charity champions began their task at the foot of Ben Nevis which towers into the clouds at 1,344m. Despite poor weather conditions and winds up to 50mph, this was completed in just over 4 hours.

The second battle was Scafell Pike where the group were grateful to be treated to light rain and very low cloud levels, as they descended the mountain the clouds lifted to give fantastic views of the Wasdale valley.

Finally, the third mountain to complete the challenge was to climb up and down Snowdon. Rob Eley says “The jewel was Snowdon, clear skies and 25 degree heat added a new dimension to the challenge, we realised at this point that walking in cold and rain is much easier.”

Everyone completed the Challenge within the 24 hour target with half an hour to spare, a tremendous effort from the whole team and a massive thanks to the designated driver and support crew.

We asked colleague Greg Howell what his thoughts were on the challenge, he said “To complete such a demanding challenge comfortably within the target time was a huge achievement for the group. All throughout our training we suffered some horrendous weather and this didn’t change for the first two mountains. We were treated to some cracking weather to finish the trip at Snowdon and although the heat probably slowed us down a bit, this did allow us to enjoy some fantastic views. I would like to say a big congratulations to all the team and a big thank you to all who have supported us. There is still time to donate to a great charity if anyone still wants to.”

Well done to all of you that took part in this challenge. For anyone still wishing to donate you can by clicking here.
