Martin Smith, Group Director of the Bri-Stor Group, Hixon, Staffordshire, will be cycling 400 miles through punishing landscapes of central France to raise money for Help for Heroes on 18th June - 1 mile for every employee at the group.

The Bri-Stor Group chose Help for Heroes as its charity partner this year and will be organising a range of fundraisers including climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks and a Bubble Football tournament.

Martin’s 400-mile challenge will begin to the east of Chalon and will finish to the west of Tours, France.  He said “One of my mates in the pub suggested a bike ride, which seemed a really good idea at the time. I gave it a great deal of thought and decided that this could make a meaningful contribution to Help for Heroes, whom I have a great sense of admiration for. I set myself this challenge – to cycle one mile for every employee. The Group understands the important work that the charity does and everyone will be cheering me on when I start my ride in a few weeks”.

Martin bought a bike last September and now cycles 3 or 4 times a week. When in France, his daily target will be to cycle over 66 miles a day for 6 days.
