Successful show for Bri-Stor at Professional Tool Fair

25 September 2017

Tool Fair Exhibiton 1

Bri-Stor Systems exhibited at Professional Tool Fair Builder on the 21st and 22nd September at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

The exhibition spanned over two halls this year making for one of the largest Tool Fair exhibitions to date and Bri-Stor were delighted to be there this year for the first time. The show was bustling with all types of trades and the stand was permanently busy. The exhibits main focus was the FORD Custom which housed the VANTAGE racking system which showed possibilities many people were not aware of. The van also accommodated our roof equipment and demonstrated the newly developed Easi-Load 3 which drew plenty of attention.

The show was also an opportunity for Bri-Stor to announce their online presence for Van Supplies which proved a success by processing online orrders on the stand.

We are left with a very positive impression from the show and hope to exhibit here again in the future.

TH White and Bri-Stor meet with National Grid for the handover of their 26 Tonne Loader

13 September 2017

TH White, Bri-Stor and National Grid have been working together regarding their fleet of vehicles and have recently joined them for a handover of the conversion of a 26 Tonne DAF Loader. The conversion comes complete with a Palfinger 32 Tonne loader which is capable of picking up a load of an impressive 1 tonne at a reach of 20 meters from the truck itself.

In addition to managing the build for National Grid, Bri-Stor also provide all the vehicle graphics for the Loader. With our in-house large format print and production capability, Bri-Stor are the main contractor for all National Grid fleet of vehicles. The build is based on a chassis which is provided by DAF and the crane and main body is provided by TH White.

The loader has a sophisticated chassis designed and built by TH White at their Devizes production centre.

National Grid have recently ordered several of these vehicles for their operation in the UK and Bri-Stor are looking forward to continuing to grow National Grids fleet into the truck market.

Bri-Stor start conversions for Alpha's Customer Trumpf

11 September 2017

Trumpf Van 1

An existing relationship between our Sister Company Alpha Manufacturing and their customer Trumpf, has led to an exciting opportunity for Bri-Stor Systems to convert their service fleet of 15 vehicles.

2 Vauxhall Vivaro’s have just been completed from an empty shell to a fully converted van installing our ELITE storage racking system and as a result, this will transform the vans usage making the life of Trumpf service engineers much easier and more organised.

Alpha have heavily invested in Trumpf machinery over the last 18 months. Only last year they purchased the STOPA automated storage system from Trumpf along with a TruLaser 3030 fibre laser machine to replace an outgoing Laser from another supplier.

Shortly after this Alpha announced a further investment in two new machines and the installation of these were completed in June this year. A new TruPunch 5000 S12 machine was installed alongside a cutting edge TruBend Cell 7000 robotic folding machine.

Bri-Stor are looking forward to working alongside Trumpf over the next coming months and seeing the conversion of the next 13 vans get completed and put in to use on the road.

Bri-Stor invest in a market leading reverse engineering solution

01 September 2017

3D scanner image 1

Bri-Stor have recently invested in a portable 3D scanning solution which will benefit the Engineering team by allowing them to collect precision data from any vehicle on or off site.

Historically by not having access to the vehicle manufactures raw CAD data, the process of designing bespoke storage solutions was becoming very time consuming and consequently resulted in lost time and resource in both the office and prototype environment.

By investing in the ROMER absolute arm hardware and Geomagic Design X the industry’s leader in reverse engineering software, this will allow our engineers to closely interact with the captured and fully useable 3D data and allow them to produce “right first time” engineering solutions to suit the customer’s needs.

This week we have followed in the footsteps of Louis Spalding, New Product Design Engineer, as he speaks about the new equipment and software “The ROMER arm is such a brilliant piece of technology; it has increased our working productivity massively. I think that this sort of investment will only open even more opportunities for the business. Being a young engineer learning new skills is very important to me, the ROMER arm has allowed me to develop a new skill set.“

Bri-Stor Successfully Complete Transition to ISO14001:2015

09 August 2017

ISO14001 Logo

During August, Bri-Stor Systems completed the transition from ISO14001:2004 to ISO 14001:2015 along with sister companies Alpha Manufacturing and Atlas Coating.

The ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System revision was released in September 2015, replacing the former ISO 14001:2004 revision. As an organisation this enhances our environmental performance.

All Businesses that are registered to the 2004 revision had until September 2018 to complete the transition to the revised standard, as the Bri-Stor Group endeavours to protect the Environment and Ecosystems through a proactive approach, we set out our objective to attain certification to the 2015 revision by September 2017.

Why was ISO 14001 revised?

All ISO standards are reviewed every five years to establish if a revision is required in order to keep it current and relevant for the marketplace. ISO 14001:2015 is designed to respond to latest trends and ensure it is compatible with other management system standards.

What are the main changes to the standard?

The key changes relate to:
• Increased prominence of environmental management within the organization's strategic planning processes
• Greater focus on leadership
• Addition of proactive initiatives to protect the environment from harm and degradation, such as sustainable resource use and climate change mitigation
• Improving environmental performance added
• Lifecycle thinking when considering environmental aspects
• Addition of a communications strategy

Over the last 12 months, The Bri-Stor Group management teams have collectively engaged in revising their current working practices and procedures to meet the requirements of the new standard, whilst still remaining compliant to their other existing obligations.

With thanks to all employees and the management team for their dedication and commitment to protecting the environment, which ensured we successfully gained this certification.

First Day of Team Building at Bri-Stor goes down a storm

08 August 2017

team building 2

Following on from the successful 3 day team building course at Elan Valley in Wales earlier this year, Bri-Stor have invited Elan Valley to our facilities for a development course to improve the communication between various departments.

In this development course, Elan Valley provide a variety of team building exercises - these help individuals to progress transferable team-working skills and gain an in-depth understanding of the underlying behaviours that create a culture of high performance.

The benefits are huge, developing a team that communicates well, is effective, consistent and reliable with a high work output of the right quality. A strong teamwork culture creates inspired team members who continuously strive for excellence and to improve performance. Being a part of such a team is a great place to be, if it’s done right it becomes engrained in everyday working practices and being good is no longer good enough!

Despite the typical British weather conditions, all members of the team have thoroughly enjoyed this course and it will certainly help to develop relationships in the working environment.

Neil Andrews, Group IT Manager said “A great and well organised event through 48 miles of Derbyshire Countryside.  Challenging hills, especially the 20% Two Dales!  Riding alongside professional riders makes you appreciate how good they really are.  All riders that took part had nothing but praise for the event, the support and fellow riders.  Thank you Team Raleigh GAC, Smith Coopers & HUUB!”

Sam Jackson, 1st Year Apprentice said "It was a fantastic opportunity for cyclists to ride alongside the pros from Team Raleigh GAC. It was great to ride the route with world champions and to see just how fast they were! The route was tough with the headwind coming back over the Peak District, but it was signposted really well and the hog roast at the end was great. Thanks to Raleigh and HUUB events for putting such a great event on."

In total, there were 60 cyclists that took part in the ride and all 60 completed the course and returned back to base to indulge in a hog roast.
