The beginning of September saw huge changes take place in the way that Bri-Stor Systems makes an environmental impact. With just a few changes, we’ve already made a difference to our carbon footprint.
We’ve changed the way that we collect our non-recyclable waste. No longer is our non-recyclable waste dumped in a skip to be collected, it is now placed directly into a compactor. All of the waste is processed into refuse diverted fuel, which replaces the need to use fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas.
With just this one small change, this means that 100% of our non-recyclable waste has been diverted from landfill. Diverting the waste means we’re making enormous environmental savings with our waste collections. We have now been able to reduce our collections from 100 per year to just 25!
By making such a dramatic reduction in waste collections, we’re reducing the amount of carbon dioxide produced by up to 75%. This is the equivalent to taking 34 cars off the road in a year or 316 trees being planted.
At Bri-Stor, we’re committed to making our CO2 footprint as small as possible. We’re constantly looking at new ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint.
